The double-girder gantry crane in steel tube construction with a total length of 101.5m and a load capacity of 25t was manufactured at the TEICHMANN location in Essen. Among other things, an existing crane was modified and adapted to the specific customer requirements. In order to achieve the specifically required jib of 15m and 18m, a new bridge piece was constructed in the in-house design department in Essen and was afterwards manufactured.
Wide portal for optimized handling of steel profiles on water-side
For the unloading of steel profiles on the water side of the port, the gantry crane has a one-sided wide portal on the pendulum support side with drive-through width of 25m (at a hook position of 8m). This allows the crane to move steel profiles up to a length of 25m underneath the portal.
Transport by barge
For the transport by inland vessel to the port of Mertert in Luxembourg, the 101.5m crane bridge was split into two parts and reassembled at the customer's site.
The shipping of the crane over the Rhine-Herne canal to Luxembourg took about 3 days. On site, the crane was then assembled by 5 TEICHMANN experts and commissioned within 3 weeks.
You can see the assembly drone video here.
In addition, TEICHMANN CRANES delivered and installed 493 m crane rails for the new 25t gantry crane. In the port of Mertert, the new TEICHMANN crane will handle steel profiles using a magnetic traverse.
Another TEICHMANN crane will arrive in September
Currently TEICHMANN CRANES is manufacturing a crane for the machining workshop equipped with a milling machine of Luxport. The 2x12.5t double-girder gantry crane in plate construction will arrive in mid-September 2018.
